ISAIS 2024

ISAIS 2024

June 15-16, 2024 (co-located with ECIS 2024)
Paphos, Cyprus

Hasselt University is pleased to welcome you to the 12th International Symposium on Accounting Information Systems (ISAIS). ISAIS rotates annually among Australia (University of Melbourne), Europe (Hasselt University), and the USA (Michigan State University).

About this edition

The twelfth edition of ISAIS will take place in Paphos (Cyprus) in the context of the European Conference on Information Systems, the week after the Conference on Advanced Information & Systems Engineering. The symposium will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 15-16, 2024.

The objective of ISAIS is to bring together researchers from all disciplines related to Accounting Information Systems (AIS). Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, topics on the intersection of accounting and: AIS development, internal control developments, strategic information systems, cultural influences on AIS, business intelligence, decision aids, business process management, audit and assurance regarding AIS, continuous auditing and reporting, enterprise resource planning, knowledge management, XBRL, process mining, data-analytics, distributed ledgers, RPA, AI, Large Language Models, …

Various recent technologies pose challenges and represent opportunities that have the potential to completely disrupt the whole spectrum of phenomena that AIS is interested in. While the AIS research field is identified by its cross-discipline character, we specifically (re-)articulate the ambition of reaching out to neighboring communities, including information systems research, business process management, and systems engineering. Having ISAIS as a co-located ECIS workshop is a clear signal towards this ambition. In this way, we aim to broaden the expertise and scope of discussions beyond the circle of accounting (information systems) researchers who are traditionally the strongest representatives at ISAIS.

Emphasis and Program

The emphasis of ISAIS is on interaction, discussion, and debate in a friendly, supportive and relaxed atmosphere.  At the same time, the intent of ISAIS is to provide a global forum for bringing the leading AIS researchers and developing scholars together to discuss and critique leading-edge research in the field.

The 2024 ISAIS program will include a keynote, complemented with journal-quality paper presentations and a tutorial.

  • This year’s keynote will be provided by prof. dr. Andrea Kelton (Middle Tennessee State University). She will activate your thinking on research paradigms, such as Design Science Research.
  • Prof. dr. Jan Mendling (HU Berlin) will give a tutorial about process mining, an example topic of interest for researchers from different fields who can find a common interest in the AIS community.

This edition will put PhD students in the spotlight, turning their attendance into a boost in their research mindset, skills, and network development. Check out the Call for Papers for more information on how to register for this session as a PhD student.
